15 Baby Travel Essentials You Should Never Leave Home Without

Traveling with babies and toddlers can sometimes be tricky, but it doesn’t have to be a struggle. The key to a stress-free journey is to ensure you pack everything your little one may need on-the-go. Wondering what to carry in your bag to travel with peace of mind? To save you the hassle of planning what to bring, here’s a quick list of baby travel essentials you should never leave home without.

#Nursing Cover

If you’re a breastfeeding mom, make sure to add a lightweight and opaque nursing cover to your baby travel list. While you don’t believe that you need to cover up when feeding your little one, you may sometimes feel uncomfortable breastfeeding in public.

Consequently, depending on your comfort level or where you’re going with your newborn, you might need a nursing cover to comfortably and discreetly breastfeed your baby. Hence, it would be wise to carry one to maintain your comfort and privacy.

#Baby Blankets

When you’re heading out with your little one, be sure to carry a couple of lightweight baby blankets and quilts to lay the baby down or wrap her in whenever required on the way. The best thing about blankets is that you can use them for multiple purposes, right from using them as a comforter to warming up the baby to protecting her from the oppressive sunlight. That’s why blankets are one of the best multi-tasking traveling essentials for baby.

#Diapers and Wipes

Disposable diapers and wipes have to be an essential item on your baby travel list. Don’t forget to carry more than enough when you’re stepping out with your little munchkin. Diapers keep your newborn dry and comfortable all the time, whereas wipes are great for cleaning your infant’s dirty hands, mouth, and spills during travel. Carry one for each hour of the journey, plus a few extra for contingency.

#Changing Mats

Given your baby will be getting her diaper changed many times during traveling, don’t forget to carry a lightweight changing mat to make the process convenient, hygienic, and hassle-free. A small foldable changing mat protects your newborn from dirty surfaces to ensure a safe, clean trip.

#Burp Cloths

Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, you must burp your newborn after each feeding session, no matter where you’re at home or outdoor. Add a couple of burp cloths to your baby travel list as they will be protecting your shoulder and infant’s clothes from messy burps and drools. Additionally, you can also use them to soak up accidentally spilled milk.

#Bibs

If you’re traveling with a baby who is bottle-feeding or eating solid food, carry enough washable as well as a few disposable bibs. They will protect your baby’s clothes against spit-ups, drools, and food messes, keeping her neat and clean throughout the journey.

 #Foldable Stroller or Baby Carrier

From getting through the airport to walking around shopping centers to sightseeing, you’ll be on your feet quite often during your trip. Unless you have planned to hold your little one the entire time, make sure you either carry a front baby carrier or a lightweight, collapsible stroller with you.

#Favorite Toys

You may be listening to your favorite music through your journey, but your baby can get bored soon. Carry your baby’s favorite toys, rattles, or pacifiers to keep her busy, engaged, and entertained on the way.

#Breastfeeding Pillow

Whether you’re at home or on-the-go, getting the right breastfeeding latch is equally essential at both places. A nursing pillow helps you prop up the newborn to an ergonomic position, saving you from constant back pain and arm numbness and your little one from various digestive problems. So make sure to carry a lightweight and comfy nursing pillow while traveling with your little one.

#Disposable Bags

Dirty clothes, soiled diapers, and burped hankies – they all need a common space to be in so they don’t mix with the clean stuff. Use plastic bags to store them. You can also carry old newspapers to dispose of the dirty stuff!

#First Aid Kit

Carry creams, lotions, ointments, and pain relievers in case your little one accidentally hurts itself during the journey. Also, don’t leave home without general-purpose medicines for common ailments, such as cold, cough, colic, diarrhea, etc. Being slightly over-prepared brings no harm!

#Inflatable Bathtub

If you’re going on a long vacation, carry an inflatable tub to set up a bathing space for your little one quickly. That’s because most hotel rooms have bathrooms that are not exactly designed for children. As an alternative, you can also wipe your baby down with a warm cloth.

#Hand Sanitizer

To avoid running to the washbasin every time, carry a hand sanitizer or disinfectant gel to clean yours and your baby’s hands quickly.

#Bottles

If your little one bottle feeds, skip the washing-and-sterilizing step by carrying enough bottles to last your journey. Also, don’t forget to bring extra nipples.

#Extra Baby Clothes

The baby clothes you have already packed in your bag won’t always be enough during travel. Carry spare clothes to last the duration of your journey. Blowouts can happen anytime, and you should be prepared beforehand.
