Methadone is a controlled drug substance due to the high potential for drug addiction. Addiction abuse and misuse of the drug can cause life-threating respiratory depression, drug withdrawal symptoms, and life-threating QT prolongation.

You should discuss with your doctor about some of your drug and alcohol addiction history; also tell him if you have or ever had any serious physical or psychological condition. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to Methadone or any other component of it.

Avoid using Methadone if you have severe asthma or breathing problem or blockage in your intestine or stomach.

Taking narcotics during pregnancy period can be life-threating withdrawal symptoms in your newborn baby. It also can react to your breast milk and affect your baby during the nursing period.

You should talk to your healthcare advisor if you any of below-given conditions;

  • Breathing problems and sleep apnea
  • Heart problems
  • Mental illness, drug or alcohol addiction
  • A head injury, seizure, and a brain tumor
  • Urination problem and liver or kidney disease
