The Best Substitute for Sugar
As every type 2 diabetic knows, our basic problem has an excessive amount of glucose (sugar) floating around in our bloodstreams instead of having it get into our muscle cells because those cell’s receptors are blocked with fat. This excess sugar will eventually damage the vital organs of our bodies heart, kidneys, brain, feet, and eyes… unless you’ll obviate it.
No doubt, Sugar always has an addictive taste.
Doctors inject naloxone when a person has overdosed on heroin. This medicine keeps the heroin from appending to receptors inside the cerebrum and subsequently, the patient generally recuperates rapidly.
In controlled studies, researchers have offered volunteers sugary foods and have recorded what proportion they ate. Later, in the same condition, they have given naloxone to the volunteers intravenously and then offered the same sugary foods to them.
The researchers found that naloxone gives a significant loss in the desire for essentially an equivalent way as heroin and other opiates, though obviously to not an equivalent degree.
It seems that sugar stimulates the discharge of opiates within the brain and these opiates, in turn, trigger the discharge of dopamine which generates feelings of delight in much the same way as recreational drugs like alcohol, cocaine, and tobacco.
So, what’s the solution?

The solution is the proper diet which goes on an ultra-low-fat for four to six weeks until the fat is cleared out of the receptors in your muscle cells, thus enabling glucose to enter and deliver their good energy. At an equivalent time, you would like to tug your appetite and stop eating sweet things.
But if the latter is just too difficult (because, say, you lack the required willpower), you’ll attempt to find a substitute for that sugar you eat… something that soothes your sugar craving.
Mainly, two major groups of sugar substitutes, one is sugar alcohols, and another one is high-intensity sweeteners.
Sugar alcohols are carbohydrates that have a chemical structure resembling sugar and having components that make them alcohol. They are 25-100% sweeter than sugar and have an identical taste.
Sugar alcohols include sorbitol, xylitol, lactitol, mannitol, erythritol and maltitol, and are often found in toothpaste, chewing gum, and a couple of “sugar-free” foods. Unfortunately, they are not calorie-free.
Anyhow, the sugar spike won’t be as bad as you think. Sucrose features a glycemic index of 65, whereas sugar alcohols, like xylitol, have a glycemic index of around 7. This means sugar alcohols take tons longer to digest and cause a slower and slower increase in blood sugar after meals.
The glycemic index is a reference to how quickly food is broken down in your stomach and absorbed. The higher the amount, the more quickly food breaks down, and therefore the quicker the glucose is released into the bloodstream.
But on the opposite hand, because sugar alcohols are harder for the body to interrupt down, a number of them remain within the gut, and if you consume an excessive amount of you may experience digestive complaints such as gas, cramping, or diarrhea.
Another problem with sugar alcohols is that they’re often packaged with higher quantities of fat or salt to form up for the reduced sugar content… ya can’t win, it seems.
High-intensity sweeteners (artificial sweeteners) are zero- or low-calorie good alternatives to sugar which are made from a variety of sources and can be a hundred times sweeter than sugar. Two newer artificial sweeteners – stevia and SGFE – come from plants and are sometimes mentioned as natural substitutes for sugar.
The use of artificial sweeteners can reduce the intake of carbohydrates and calories in your body. But if you replace the missing calories with calories from other sources of food, you’ll lose the advantages you would like.
Indeed, researchers have seen this in some studies on artificial sweeteners. Some of the trials show no difference or even a possible increase in weight when using this kind of sweetener. Although in other studies, where the intake of food was better regulated and patients don’t replace these free calories with other high-calorie foods, weight loss was maintained.
The big disadvantage of substitutes for sugar is that they do not break the appetite habit. So, when the substitutes aren’t available, you’ll return to using sugar… which is why I like to recommend that you simply don’t use substitutes. It’s good to have your sweet tooth pulled.
This is what I did and that I didn’t find the method of abandoning sugar in my tea and occasionally especially difficult. Just remember one great truth… apart from our taste for milk, all our tastes, our acquired tastes… what you’ve got acquired by practice, you’ll un-acquire with further practice.
