What is TNEA Random Number 2021?

DoTE, Tamil Nadu will assign a unique 10-digit number to every applicant of TNEA 2021. This unique number is termed as TNEA 2021 random number. The generation of TNEA random number will be done on the basis of a unique number generating algorithm. The purpose of assigning this number to the candidates is to resolve inter se merit after all the clauses like subject-wise marks, date of birth, etc. are exhausted.

TNEA 2021 Inter se Merit

The authorities will follow the given tie-breaking rule to determine the inter se merit in case of same marks obtained by two or more candidates in the qualifying exam-

• In case of a tie, a candidate with higher percentage marks in Mathematics will be given higher rank.
• If a tie still persists, a candidate with higher percentage marks in Physics will be given higher rank.
• If a tie still persists, a candidate with higher percentage marks in the fourth optional subject will be given a higher rank.
• If a tie still persists, the date of birth of the candidates will be considered to break the tie. Candidates older in age will be given higher rank.
• If a tie still persists, TNEA 2021 Random Number will be used to break the tie. Higher value of random number will be given preference.

TNEA Rank List 2021

The authorities will prepare the TNEA 2021 rank list on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying exam. TNEA merit list/rank list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200 (Maths – 100, Physics – 50 and Chemistry – 50). In case of a tie, inter se merit will be prepared. The authorities will also use a normalization method to equate the marks secured by candidates of different boards with the Tamil Nadu board. It must be noted that a separate rank list will be released for each category. TNEA 2021 Counselling

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of TNEA rank list 2021 will be eligible to participate in the counselling process. The authorities will conduct four to five rounds of TNEA counselling 2021.
